A new restaurant opened up in an old spot in Belvedere Square: CRUSH. The old restaurant was Taste, and it was good, but they closed last year. One of the owners from Christopher Daniel took over the space and now we are blessed with dining utopia!

Fortunately, the decor was left as it was: an eclectic mix of warm woods, edgy lighting, rope ceiling, and a great open staircase. The bar fills the entrance area, and it is a great place to sit and enjoy a drink, or hang out and mingle. Up a short flight, or down, the tables are well lit and the service was excellent.

We enjoyed the calamari as a first course, and it was crunchy, not too bready, and not too greasy.

Among the other items on the menu was a risotto with shrimp and poached egg?

Sounded way too unusual for me, but my partner said it was an excellent combination.

The fried oysters were among the best I have ever enjoyed. Plump on the inside and light cornmeal outside. The sauce was not overbearing, but gave it just a bit of a kick to compliment the texture.Salmon as a main dish was apparently excellent, as my partner devoured the flaky moist forkfuls.

I had an appetizer of the duck which was simply elegant. The skin was crispy and lightly seasoned, and the meat simply fell off the bone in tender moist pieces. Too large for an appetizer and not quite enough for an entree, I asked the waitress to add a little more and call it a dinner portion: she said she would pass that onto the chef! No photo here, I stuck my fork in as soon as it arrived!!

This is our new favorite neighborhood restaurant. Stop in for a fabulous meal, light fare, or drink and dessert, and I’m telling you: no disappointments.
